Removing an Access key?
This is a very stupid question, I am painfully aware of it. Is there any way to remove an access key from an account?
The reason is thus; GW:EN came out on the 31st, and I had been talking to my friends, saying that I would have to wait until December 25th to get my own copy of GW:EN so I could join them in playing it. One of my friends surprised me by going out and buying a copy, in a real honest to goodness store, for me to play; I have the receipt and everything so I know it wasn't pirated, bootlegged, or any number of other illegalitites that plauge the current state of online gaming. However, certain people in my house believe that that the internet is a cesspool of illegality and danger. Which, granted, I know it is in some cases. For instance, all my male friends online are all pedophiles looking to trap me into... doing things the pedophiles do with young men, all the women I meet are men masquerading as women so that they might ensnare a young man in a devious pedophiliac plot. That sort of thing. Anyhoo, It has been decided that this copy of GW:EN I have must be stolen in one form or another, becuase no one does anything nice anymore. I aplologize to anyone who read through the above paragraph becuase looking at it, it certainly looks like a rant. However, instead of a bunch of people asking why I needed to remove a key, I thought I would jump the gun and tell you all before you asked. I appreciate any help. If you guys don't know then I'll contact Arenanet see what they can do about it. Thanks! |

No, it is not possible to remove an access key from your account after it has been added. Also, video game stores do not offer refunds for games these days - they will only offer a new copy of the game if the copy you have is defective in some way.

I have spent a lot of years on the internet and met and made a great many of my internet friends. I know, there are perv's out there, but not everyone is.
Having said that, let me say this, being a parent, I totally understand where they are coming from. If someone that I didn't know had sent my daughter something in the mail, it would have been promptly returned and she would have totally lost the use of the internet. So, if you're parents are really upset, pay your friends back and don't ever, ever do that again.....at least until you are an adult (and no, being a teenager does not make you an adult). |

As a partent myself I can see your parents side of things, as a child who had parents like that I can see how you would feel.
That said, YES there are ppl that nice out there now, they are a dieing breed but they are out there. ( I happen to know a few mostly in real life no less) #1 Questions, was the box unopened? More importiantly was the paper shield thingy that had the code unopened? IF that was the case then and you have a receipt... I'd say its a legit copy. Also unlike some other programs as far as I know there isn't a way to track which code does to what seriel # so I dont anet could tell if so stolen from a store (but dont hold me to that) #2 If you are playing GW:EN then you must have atlest 1 other GW games... there are ok w/ u playing GW just not an expansion pack? or that someone gave it to you - just trying to get it stright so I can maybe help you. # 3 If you where able to add the key to your account then it was a legit key (see #1 ) and so they shouldn't worry on that score. I have been online for about 10 yrs now; Yes there are preditors out there but there is not one in every chat room/zone. In fact if you look up your address you'll probaly see alot more living in your zip code then you will meet online. If your use common sence you should be safe I.E. NOT giving out your real full name ( I alway use a nick name and I'm an adult) or what town you live in let alone your addrees, which if someone mailed something to you.... I can see why they would be upset. If they are really worried I think you should invite them to sit with you and watch you play/ chat or let them sit in your guild hall or a town and read what ppl are saying in chat. Almost all of it is harmless funny stuff, that way they can feel better about you playing it. Maybe even let them have a slot and make a new PC to try it out, you never know THEY might like it and join you playing, thats how I got my other 1/2 to play. Or let them use the buddy key that the game came with, I'd say start them in NF if you have the option as we all know how pre can be, and that way there are right into "heart" of things. Good luck and if you need to PM me to vent/ ask for sugestions or let your parents ask another parent about the game/safty. Heres is a little something that I heard alot but didn't understaind till I had my own son; If your parents didn't care about you, they would not punish you or try to protect you. I have seen it both ways and while as a child (and still now at times) you really hate it.... Trust me when I say I parent that doesn't care is much worse. Much, much worse. Feel free to PM or have your parents do so on here or in game if you think that would help. I hope everything calms down for you. Just take a deep breath, remeber they care and try to stay calm. Have a good one and take care |

and I wouldn't want a refund, nor would I be able to take one. I am simply wondering if I would be able to remove the access key from my GW account, becuase that would make things all better for some reason. ******** Quote:
And yes, were it the case that this person had sent me this through the mail, I would be very upset as well. I would never jeopardize the safety and security of my family, or myself for that matter, by giving out my personal information to anyone, especially not people I know only through the internet even after several years. And I don't consider myself an Adult, I don't have a job and I don't pay my own way through most things. And for that, I am very grateful; it allows me to concentrate on my studies. ********* Quote:

The issue with this copy of GW:EN is that a seemingly unknown person gave me the access code, and my parents became convinced that it was stolen or otherwise illegally procured. Which has me stymied to be honest. Really it is just annoying to have my friends cast in such a light that they are nothing better than pedophiles and thieves. I am as sure as I can be that this is not the case. However this is online so you can never be sure, and I am very aware of that... I watch Dateline afterall Quote:
